Biodiversity challenge – Dodo

A warning from history

DodoPicture a pigeon as tall as a turkey,
With miniature wings that were too weak to worky.
The rest of the facts are a little bit murky,
But one thing’s for certain – the dodo was quirky.
The sailors who found him decided to eat him,
And thought it was fun to surround him and beat him.
The dodo was tame and the humans were vicious;
They clubbed him to death on the isle of Mauritius.
Doomed from the moment that he was discovered,
His species soon dwindled and never recovered.
He was flightless and harmless and helpless and dumb.
And now he’s extinct. Gone forever. Ho-hum.
