Fauna & Flora International (FFI)

Copywriting and editorial assignments for the Fundraising & Communications team of the world’s longest-established international wildlife conservation organisation. Editor of FFI’s annual magazine, Fauna & Flora. Creative writer for conservation-related websites launched by FFI and its partners. Other projects have included: drafting new corporate brochure, text for new website, regular appeals, new membership leaflet; compiling annual report and award-winning quarterly newsletter; writing press releases and other articles for publication; speechwriting for CEO; ad hoc assistance with fundraising and marketing campaigns (1999 to date).

ARKive

Commissioned to help refine the messaging for a public facing campaign aiming to promote the ARKive brand among a wider audience and increase public awareness of its key objectives (2009).

Wildlife At Risk (WAR)

Head of Communications for this Vietnam-based conservation organisation. Single-handedly developed a communications and fundraising strategy; created and managed a new website; devised and implemented environmental education and fundraising campaigns; wrote educational materials, newsletters, press releases; delivered illustrated talks to local and international schools and business groups (2005-8).

International Gorilla Conservation Programme (IGCP)

Commissioned by FFI, WWF and the African Wildlife Foundation to produce the text for a new website (www.igcp.org), launched to showcase IGCP’s pioneering mountain gorilla conservation activities in Central Africa (2003).

Requested by kiwanja’s founder to write the text for www.globalgorillaz.com, an on-line promotional vehicle for a mobile phone download service that donates a percentage of its profits to wildlife conservation projects around the globe (2005).

 Vodafone

Creative writer and website administrator for a groundbreaking initiative under the wildlive! banner (www.kiwanja.net/wildlive!.htm), a joint venture to promote an active interest in wildlife among the mobile phone generation and generate funds to support FFI’s conservation work (2003).

 Wildscreen

Creative writer for an educational website, www.antiguanracer.org, a three-way collaboration with FFI and ARKive to show young students how conservation really works, using the story of the battle to save the Antiguan racer, formerly the world’s rarest snake (2001).
